British statistician Dr Atal Winkler lead the team that analysed 700 titles of books that made the New York Times Bestseller List between 1955 – 2004 and created the ‘Lulu Titlescorer’, which is a programme that can predict the chances of your title delivering you a bestseller.
Apparently ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’ scores an excellent 71 per cent and ‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows’ gets 76%. I don’t have a novel title (yet!) but I have put in some of the titles of my short stories and one of them – ‘Love ‘Em And Leave ‘Em’ – did even better than those: it got 79.6%! Yipppeee!
