The Asham Award – Results

The results are out for the Asham Award, which is a bi-annual short story prize for previously unpublished* women writers based in the UK. I meant to enter this and didn’t and now of course I’m kicking myself, because the next opportunity to enter is not until 2012!

It’s worth a look at the site because they print previous winners’ stories and there are a few words of advice from Sarah Waters (one of my favourite writers) on writing a ghost story. That was the theme for the last competition, but there are still some useful tips (and there’s always a market for a good ghost story!)

*by that, they mean you can’t have had a novel or collection of short stories published
